Q: What are the office hours for your main office?
A: Our office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please call before stopping by in person to make sure someone is in the office as we have a small staff.
Q: Where exactly is your office located?
A: The office of the Southold Town Recreation Department is located in the Southold Town Recreation Center at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic. Here are local directions: FROM POINTS WEST Heading east on the Main Road (Route 25), you will go through the towns of Laurel, Mattituck, Cutchogue to Peconic.

Q: What is a resident user?
A: A person who lives year-round in any of the hamlets in the Town of Southold, including Orient, East Marion, Greenport and Greenport Village, Southold, Peconic, Cutchogue, New Suffolk Mattituck and Laurel east of Laurel Lane and Aldrich Lane, or a person who owns property within the Town of Southold
Q: What is a non-resident user?
A: A seasonal renter, a short-term visitor, or other person who does not live year-round within the Town of Southold.
Q: What is a household member?
A: A spouse, child or ward, or other adult that shares the home with the Main Contact. Does not apply to unrelated tenants renting from the main contact and living at the same property (i.e. apartment or boarder).
Q: Can I enroll my child in a class that they are too young for? How strict are ages enforced?
A: Children must meet the age requirement set for each program. Our instructors set the age that they feel comfortable teaching and we must strictly adhere to it.
Q: How do I register a concern or a complaint?
A: You may register a concern by mail, e-mail ( or by calling the Recreation Office at 631.765.5182. Compliments are welcome as well.
Q: Can I register for a program over the phone and pay later?
A: Sorry, we cannot hold spots in programs without payment. This causes too many problems with people forgetting to pay or changing their minds.
Q: I don’t live in the Town of Southold, but would like to participate in one of your offerings. Is this possible?
A: Residents receive priority when registering for the recreation department programs and activities. We do allow non-residents to participate in our programs at a later date and for a slight additional fee. Registration dates and program fees for non-residents are listed in our quarterly brochures.

Q: What is your refund policy?
A: Full refunds will be granted if a class or program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or is canceled by the Recreation Department and no cancellation fee will be assessed. Refunds will not be issued for trips, special events, or ticketed events unless your place can be filled by someone on
